• Getting your Alberta Driver's Licence, Registering your car

The Government of Alberta does all vehicle registrations, licensing and property searches and registrations through a network of community-based service centres called Alberta Registries. Independently owned and operated, registry agents offer one-stop shopping for a wide range of registration, information, and licensing services on behalf of the Government of Alberta. Services provided include motor vehicle registration, driver licensing and testing, personal property (lien) searches and registrations, land title searches, corporate registry searches, and vital statistics searches.

If you are moving to Alberta, you have 90 days to exchange your license for an Alberta Driver's license. Your teenagers might be excited to learn that with parental consent, they can apply for their Learners license at the age of 14.

You will need to register your vehicle and obtain Alberta plates within 90 days of moving to Alberta and once you have obtained your Alberta driver's license. For more information on registering your vehicle including vehicles that are arriving from outside Canada, visit Service Alberta vehicle plate and registration information.
